Rising damp is a proliferation of water and damp beneath the subfloor and walls of building. It can be a widespread problem with ancestral houses that are made with slab or sandstone substructures. These foundations can operate as a scrounger to the damp in the land, soaking up water into walls and resulting in the horrible effects of rising damp.

Most houses that do not have damp course installed (a plastic lining) have a higher risk of Rising Damp. Sloppy workmanship amid the instalment of lump of concrete and poor sewerage on high land gradient can also cause real problems for home and project owners.
